Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated Dr.Web KATANA BE setup (1.0.8.06270), which now includes the current versions of Dr.Web Thunderstorm Cloud Client SDK (12.0.24.06030), Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API (11.5.16.202206204), Dr.Web Protection for Windows (11.5.12.03230) and Dr.Web Shellguard anti-exploit module (11.5.5.10050). This setup file is used to install Dr.Web KATANA Business Edition (1.0.6.06270).

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated the Dr.Web KATANA setup module (1.0.20.11260), as well as Dr.Web Thunderstorm Cloud Client SDK (12.0.24.06030) and Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API (11.5.16.202206204), in its non-signature based anti-virus Dr.Web KATANA 1.0. Doctor Web’s May 2022 virus activity review

In May, an analysis of Dr.Web’s statistics revealed a 0.86% decrease in the total number of threats, compared to April. With that, the number of unique threats rose by 1.73%. Nonetheless, adware and unwanted programs still made up the majority of detected threats. In email traffic, the malware most frequently distributed included malicious scripts, stealers, and phishing pages, along with programs that exploit vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office programs.

The spread of malware in email traffic and other events of May 2022

Doctor Web is pleased to present its May 2022 virus activity review. According to statistics, the overall number of detected threats remained at April levels. Adware and unwanted programs still occupied the top spot for detected threats. With that, in email traffic, the malware distributed most frequently included trojans, stealers, exploits and malicious scripts. User requests to decrypt files affected by encoders slightly decreased, compared to April. The spread of sites distributing adware and malware masquerading as installers of popular software remained an ongoing trend. Read more about these and other events in our May virus review.

Adware trojan activity increases, threats on Google Play and other events in Doctor Web’s May 2022 mobile malware activity review

Doctor Web is pleased to present its May 2022 mobile malware activity review. Last month, according to the detection statistics collected by Dr.Web for Android products, the Android.Spy.4498 trojan remained the most common Android threat. This malware hijacks information from other apps’ notifications. At the same time, its activity continues to gradually decrease. With that, Android.HiddenAds adware trojans increased their activity compared to April. Also within the month of May, Doctor Web malware analysts discovered new malicious apps on Google Play.
