A hibernation option has been introduced for the Security Auditor to keep up with the innovations included in the latest Android versions. If an application remains unused for several months, the latest Android releases will revoke the permissions previously granted to it and stop the application from working to reduce memory usage. Hibernation feature support allows Dr.Web to optimise its continuous background operation.
Adjustments have also been made to the notification panel to meet the latest requirements for Android notifications. This change is relevant for Android 12 and later releases.
Identified issues affecting the app's modules have been resolved.
Specifically, a Parental Control defect preventing recently started applications from being blocked if the URL-filter was enabled has been eliminated. Meanwhile, adjustments for the Call and SMS Filter ensure that SMS notifications can be received when the Contacts option is enabled for the Allow filter and that phone numbers from the Call Log are displayed correctly. Screen rotation and new account dialogue UI problems affecting this module and the Anti-theft have also been addressed.
Try it out, test it, and report on the shortcomings you discover and the other observations you make. To join the ranks of our beta-testers and to try out Dr.Web 12.9.0 for Android, please go to this page.
