A growth in ransomware activity and other events of April 2020

May 22, 2020

Doctor Web presents its April 2020 overview of malware activity. In April, the number of detected threats decreased by over a third compared to March. According to statistics, users primarily faced adware and unwanted programs. A multi-module with the highest number of detections continued to dominate email traffic. Malware that exploits vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office programs also remained active. The number of user requests to decrypt files affected by encoders increased by more than 30% compared to the previous month. Read more about these and other events in our April review.
