A botnet for Linux, dangerous Windows Trojans, and other August 2016 events

August 31, 2016

Doctor Web is pleased to present its August 2016 virus activity review. In the past month, the company’s analysts discovered a new Trojan infecting POS (Point-Of-Sale) terminals, a malware program using the TeamViewer program to spy on users, and a Trojan that installs a fake Chrome browser. The Linux operating system was also targeted by cybercriminals: security researchers detected two Linux Trojans written in the Go programming language, one of which is capable of creating botnets using hacked Drupal-based websites.
