Doctor Web presents its February 2015 overview of malware for Android-devices. During the last winter month, Doctor Web security researchers detected series of aggressive advertising modules, including those in the Google Play catalogue, and recorded the emergence of dangerous Android ransomware as well as variety of SMS Trojans.

In February, several new aggressive systems, designed to show annoying advertisements to Android users, were detected. One of these modules, named Adware.MobiDash.1.origin, was embedded in applications published on Google Play and downloaded by tens of millions of users.

Besides, new versions of dangerous ransomware, including Android.Locker.71.origin which encrypts files on Android devices, were detected. Also, the activity of various banking Trojans was detected and a great number of entries for dozens of SMS Trojans was added to the virus database.
