Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web is notifying its customers that the updated version of its Dr.Web vxCube—an interactive file analysis sandbox—will become available on November 1, 2022.

The updated version boasts improved performance and stability and incorporates error fixes and feature upgrades.

Specifically, the sandbox is now able to parse XLL files, which are Excel add-in files that allow third-party enhancements and functions to be used with the spreadsheet suite.

Android 4.3 emulation is no longer available in the sandbox.

In addition:

  • The sandbox has been optimised for examining larger files.
  • Its threat detection capabilities have been expanded.
  • The product documentation has been updated for improved readability and navigation.

Also note that the recent software module update affecting Dr.Web applications for Unix-like systems, which was reported in our earlier publication, allows Dr.Web vxCube to be integrated with corporate mail servers for additional examination of inbound emails.

Dr.Web vxCube's web interface will be unavailable on November 1 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. GMT due to scheduled updating.
