Dr.Web for Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG Light released and Dr.Web for Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG updated

December 11, 2012

Doctor Web has released a Dr.Web plug-in for Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG Light. As opposed to the full version of the product, this application is optimized to process HTTP traffic and links at a high speed, but lacks some additional features. However, it includes new features incorporated into Dr.Web for Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG 6.0.1, which is also being released today.

The main feature of the new lightweight Dr.Web plug-in for Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG Light is the ability to quickly scan a data stream passing through Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG over HTTP (including FTP over HTTP). The plugin scans inbound mail traffic for viruses, paid dialers, adware, riskware, hack tools and jokers. If a threat is detected, user access to the data is blocked according to the settings of the application.

The updated full version 6.0.1, which includes an anti-spam filter and the ability to create user groups and anti-virus protection profiles, incorporates a number of new features. These features are also available with the Light version. Plugins installed on different servers with a firewall can now be joined in a cluster (a hierarchical tree) to replicate scan and application settings between servers. The products include the Dr.Web Start/Stop Manager, which monitors the operation of other programs and responds to their abnormal behaviour, for example, freezes or crashes. The applications feature new versions of the anti-virus engine and Scanning Engine service. The scanning routines have been optimized.

More info about the plugins is available in the release notes:
