Dr.Web AV-Desk provides anti-virus protection to residents of Dubna

February 27, 2009

Doctor Web — the Russian anti-virus vendor — announces successful deployment of Dr.Web AV-Desk by “Laboratorya setevikh technology” (network technologies lab) company operating in Dubna (a town situated 125 km north of Moscow).

The company provides broadband Internet to more than 9000 subscribers who as any Internet-users also need to be protected from viruses. A number of malicious programs in the wild increases day after day and so does the number of calls for support.

“Now every member of a family has his own computer. All these computers connected to the Internet are in danger of getting infected or becoming a target of an attack. Many subscribers applied to the helpdesk after such attacks and it took a lot of time and efforts to deal with their consequences”, Alexander Antonov, the director general of “Laboratorya setevikh technology” said.

A special solution is required to create a security system for monitoring and protection of an entire network. The unique anti-virus service from Doctor Web allows providing such a security. Dr.Web AV-Desk has already become popular among service providers and their subscribers in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Estonia.

“Subscribers got interested in the service during the testing period. When the testing was completed all participants renewed their subscriptions on the fee basis. More than 30 000 malicious objects were detected on computers of subscribers in one month. But what our subscribers really like is that they don’t need to search for an anti-virus in a store. Dr.Web AV-Desk delivers the anti-virus software to a machine in a few seconds”, Alexander Kirpichnikov, the head of the information department of the company said.

About Dr.Web AV-Desk
The internet service was developed by Doctor Web in 2007. It allows service providers to deliver the anti-virus protection service powered by Dr.Web for Windows to an unlimited number of subscribers. A service provider also receives a tool for centralized management of the delivery process. Deployment of Dr.Web AV-Desk gives subscribers an opportunity to use the anti-virus from Doctor Web as a service: select a desired subscription term (1-36 months) and plan their expenses on anti-virus protection. The innovative model that turns information security software into a service ensures instant delivery of an anti-virus making it extremely easy to renew for any user regardless of his geographical location.

More than fifty provider companies have already deployed Dr.Web AV-Desk in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Estonia. Following results shown by the service in 2007 it was named the best product-service by PC Magazine Russia. In September 2008 Dr.Web AV-Desk was awarded the large golden medal of the Siberian Fair as an original technical and telecom solutions.
