Doctor Web, Ltd. and State Institute of Information Technologies and Telecommunications (SIIT&T "Informika") start deploying Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service in the nation-wide university network RUNNet (Russian UNiversity Network).

Dr.Web AV-Desk is the first Internet service by Doctor Web, Ltd. The service targets ISPs and can be used to deliver anti-virus protection to an unlimited number of subscribers – both home users and companies. It also provides a mechanism for centralized management of the service delivery. Dr.Web AV-Desk is a robust and efficient tool supplying anti-virus and anti-spam protection to users regardless of their geographical location.

SIIT&T "Informika” is a state-funded research facility developing and promoting new IT technologies among educational and research institutions of Russia. RUNNet is the core of telecom infrastructure in the unified educational information environment that connects local networks and large networks of research institutions in Russia. Currently RUNNet is the largest education and science IP-network used by over 400 universities and other research related organizations. RUNNet is used by such large science and education networks as RBnet, FREEnet, RUHEP/Radio-MSU, RELARN-IP and networks of Moscow and St. Petersburg universities.
