Doctor Web’s annual virus activity review: most notable events in 2016

December 29, 2016

Doctor Web presents its 2016 virus activity review. This year turned out to be rather eventful in terms of information security.

The past year was marked by the emergence of the first ransomware Trojan for macOS (OS X), the spread of Trojans performing targeted attacks, and dangerous malware programs for Windows. In 2016, a large number of Trojans designed to infect the Internet of Things—various devices running the Linux system—were discovered. In addition, attackers were still interested in targeting Android users. Read about these and other events of 2016 in the detailed Doctor Web virus activity review.
