Trojan targets AOL Instant Messenger users

A new spam mailing spreading malicious programs from the Trojan.PWS.Panda famil, in particular Trojan.PWS.Panda.220, has been registered.

Messages aiming to spread the Trojan target users of AOL Instant Messenger. A user is notified that his account has been suspended and will deleted in 72 hours.

To solve this problem the user needs to download a critical AIM update. In fact the “update” is a malicious program.

Criminals found a peculiar way to solve the problem when malicious sites spreading Trojans are closed down. A message informs would-be-victims that the AIM update link is generated individually and has a short life time. If the link delivered by the message doesn’t work, the user can get another link with a message that would arrive later.
