Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has released Dr.Web for Linux 10.1. The application enjoys a wider array of features and an upgraded UI which improves the anti-virus's usability even further.

The innovations include Dr.Web Cloud which enables the anti-virus to obtain up-to-date information about threats from Doctor Web's servers in real time.

Also, Dr.Web 10.1 for Linux can now display messages from Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite administrators—this feature is relevant if your anti-virus is part of a centrally managed anti-virus network.

The list of Linux distributions for which the kernel module used by SpIDer Guard was compiled has expanded to include CentOS/RHEL 5.11/6.6 and SLES 11 sp3. In addition, system settings no longer need altering to load the kernel module under SLES 11.

Also, the new version of Dr.Web for Linux comes with upgraded routines for neutralising malicious objects launched under Wine—the compatibility application that allows Windows software to be run under Linux.

The SpIDer Guard file monitor has become more stable when operating in the kernel mode.

Users of Dr.Web Anti-virus for Linux must use the updated distribution to install the program. Please note that in order to upgrade to 10.1 from Dr.Web for Linux 6.0.2 or earlier versions, you will need to remove the existing installation and install the new version.
