A new spying Trojan for Mac OS X, threats to Linux and other events in February 2015

March 4, 2015

Doctor Web presents its February 2015 virus activity review. In the last winter month, Doctor Web security researchers dissected a new spying Trojan for Mac OS X and another malicious program for Linux.

The new Trojan for Mac OS X, named Mac.BackDoor.OpinionSpy.3, has a wide range of features and is primarily intended for spying on users. The emergence of Linux.BackDoor.Xnote.1 became another noteworthy event in February. Cybercriminals also endowed this malicious program with an impressive range of features.

As before, Windows users are threatened by encryption ransomware that demands a ransom for decryption of compromised files. Many malicious and advertising applications for Android have also been discovered.

Read about these events and other developments in the IT security in the detailed virus activity review from Doctor Web.
