Online fake anti-virus installs traditional fake anti-virus

Criminals that created a bogus side for another online fake anti-virus use quite complex fraud scheme. Their fake anti-virus has English language interface and looks similar to false anti-virus that resembles Windows Explorer. It was described in our real-time threat news earlier.

Once "scanning” is completed and “viruses” are found, the user is offered to download and install a program detected by Dr.Web as Trojan.Fakealert.8499.

After installation this malicious program offers the victim to scan his system. Once viruses are detected once again, the user is offered to purchase a "full version" of the anti-virus.

Both the online anti-virus and installed programs are fakes used to extort money.
