Dr.Web for Windows file servers: a beta-version with updated SpIDer Guard

October 15, 2009

The Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web announced the launch of beta-testing of its Dr.Web solution for Windows file servers featuring the updated SpIDer Guard file monitor that is now compatible with the x64 architecture.

The beta version is available for both x86 and x86-64 platforms. The updated resident monitor SpIDer Guard provides support of the x64 platform. It is already implemented in Dr.Web solutions for Windows that have been presented to the public for beta-testing earlier.

Now cutting-edge protective features of SpIDer Guard are available to users of 64-bit Windows server solutions including those who run Windows R2 2008 that is available only for the x64 platform.

With the new mini-filter technology compatibility of SpIDer Guard with operating systems and third-party applications has improved significantly while improved interaction between SpIDer Guard and the anti-virus engine contributed to increased scanning efficiency and more stable operation of the file monitor with the number of operational errors reduced to a minimum. Besides, configuring the file monitor with the agent graphical interface has become much easier.

The beta-version is compatible with the following operating systems:

  • x86 – Windows 2000 Server (SP 4 + Rollup1), Windows 2003/2003 R2 Server, Windows 2008;
  • x64 – Windows 2003/2003 R2, Windows 2008 R2.
