The Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web released Dr.Web for MS Exchange 2007. The new product protects Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 from viruses and spam.

Dr.Web for MS Exchange 2007 supports new concepts of organizations implemented in Exchange Server 2007 – server role and transport agent – as well as the new SMTP-events structure of the mail server. Now all e-mail traffic is processed by the Dr.Web anti-virus transport agent at different stages in the SMTP transport system. A scan for viruses and spam can be performed on the transport layer as well as on the VSAPI 2.6 anti-virus interface layer.

Registration of transport agents and of the VSAPI 2.6 anti-virus interface support module during installation is optional and depends on set server roles. With transport agents support Dr.Web applications can be installed on an edge transport server that doesn’t have access to Active Directory directory services and is deployed in a perimeter network Support for VSAPI 2.6 allows using background scanning to check messages already stored in mailboxes of a server with the mailbox server role. And as the most common case Dr.Web anti-virus applications can be installed on any machine with the hub transport server role and other roles mentioned above installed.

Functionality of the quarantine has been improved. Now users can rescan quarantined objects and use latest virus definitions to neutralize dangerous objects.
