Components in Dr.Web 9.0 products for Windows updated

October 2, 2013

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated a wide array of components in its Dr.Web Security Space and Dr.Web Anti-virus for Windows including the component SpIDer Agent (9.0.1.201309230), the Dr.Web Net Filtering Service (9.0.1.09270) and Dr.Web Control Service (9.0.1.09232), the scanner (9.0.1.201309230), the Dr.Web Scanning Engine (9.0.1.201309200), the Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API (9.0.1.201309231) and Dr.Web Thunderstorm Cloud Client SDK (9.0.0.201309180). The update delivers numerous fixes and a number of improvements.

Among the issues resolved were the following:

  • The possible abnormal termination of SpIDer Agent when pop-ups containing details about detected threats were displayed. The incorrect data-protection option status being indicated under the Preventative Protection tab.

Dr.Web Net Filtering Service defects:

  • Freezing episodes after component launch. Disablement of the option to restrict system date and time adjustment if the Time Limits parameter was toggled off.
  • A text-formatting issue on the page that is displayed in the browser in the event a blocked site is not on the Parental Control’s whitelist.
  • The possible abnormal termination of the service during traffic scanning of the instant messenger R&Q.

The updated scanner supports the new version of the Dr.Web Scanning Engine. Tweaks to the scanning service, Dr.Web Thunderstorm Cloud Client SDK and the Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API have sped up the scanning of objects via Dr.Web Cloud. The anti-rootkit module issue preventing the start of anti-rootkit scanning has been resolved.

The update will be performed automatically, however, a system reboot will be required.
