Dr.Web for Android updated to version 8.00.3

Doctor Web has updated its Dr.Web 7.0 for Android to version 8.00.3. A number of important changes have been made to the anti-virus for mobile devices running Android.

Now Dr.Web for Android detects applications that exploit the recently discovered Android vulnerability 8219321 (master keys).

Also improved was the mechanism for determining the location of the phone by SMS command.

The license validation routine has been changed for Dr.Web Anti-virus Life licenses acquired on Google Play.

The demo period of the version of Dr.Web for Android that is available at has been reduced to 14 days to match the demo period of the product available via Google Play.

In addition, in order to save memory the auto-update service will start only if the network is available.

The update also delivers some UI tweaks and fixes of errors, including Anti-spam and Anti-theft issues on CDMA devices.

The updated version of Dr.Web for Android is available on Google Play (Dr.Web Anti-virus, Dr.Web Anti-Virus Life license) and on Doctor Web's site (Dr.Web for Android).

Dr.Web for Android will be updated automatically. If automatic updates are disabled on the device, go to Google Play, choose Dr.Web Anti-virus or Dr.Web Anti-Virus Life license on the application list, and click "Update”.

In order to update via Doctor Web’s site, you need to download a new distribution file. If the option “New application version” is enabled, a new version notification will be displayed when updating the virus databases. You can start the download directly from this dialogue box.
