Dr.Web for Android downloads top 15 million!

February 8, 2013

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web is delighted to inform the Internet community that downloads of Dr.Web for Android (including the Light version) at Google Play have exceeded 15 million. Thus, in just two-and-a-half months (from November 2012 to February 2013), this popular product for mobile devices running Android has been downloaded more than 5 million times.

Today, Dr.Web for Android is popular among users not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders. It is used in the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Japan and the USA. In all these countries, installations of Dr.Web for Android number in the hundreds of thousands. But, of course, these impressive figures aren’t everything—positive feedback on Google Play about the product’s performance speaks far more eloquently about Dr.Web’s popularity.

And Dr.Web products for Android are continuing to evolve. Their components are regularly updated to incorporate cutting-edge Dr.Web technologies; new versions of the anti-virus are released. Thus, in recent years, Dr.Web for Android—a product offering comprehensive protection—has been supplied with components like Anti-spam, Anti-theft and Cloud Checker.

As Android’s popularity grows, so does the attention it attracts from cyber criminals. Doctor Web is not only in the process of improving Dr.Web for Android, but is also developing other products for this mobile OS. At the end of 2012, the beta version of Dr.Web Launcher was released. This product is designed to create lists of allowed applications for each user and to restrict the Android device from accessing specified sites.

Doctor Web thanks all users who choose Dr.Web for Android! We work hard to ensure that your mobile devices are even better protected.
