Components of Dr.Web for Windows updated

December 4, 2012

Doctor Web has updated several components in Dr.Web Security Space and Dr.Web Anti-virus 7.0 and 8.0 for Windows. The update provides fixes of known errors and feature enhancements.

The following improvements have been made in Dr.Web 8.0 products for Windows.

The agent’s default minimum proactive protection settings have been changed to prevent the installation of certain programs and Windows updates from being blocked. All settings are now saved to bin files for simplified configuration export and import. In addition, a number of agent errors have been fixed.

Process scanning routines have been optimized for the Scanning Engine service. An issue that caused an error upon pressing the Scanner stop button has been resolved.

Changes have also been made to the Dr.Web Control Service. Proactive protection has been enhanced, and an error that occurred when the value of the parameter used to disable the emulation of user activities could not be saved has been fixed. Microsoft Update downloads and installations are no longer blocked if minimum proactive protection is enabled.

The update for 8.0 products also fixes other minor errors, which makes Dr.Web Security Space and Dr.Web for Windows more stable.

An issue when the firewall might terminate abnormally with Handy Backup running in the system has also been resolved for Dr.Web 7.0 and 8.0.

The update will be automatically downloaded by the anti-viruses, but applying it will require a system reboot.
