Doctor Web — a Russian anti-virus vendor and leader on the Russian Internet-services market — has released a new version of Dr.Web AV-Desk software that allows service providers to deliver anti-virus and anti-spam protection to their subscribers. The new version of Dr.Web AV-Desk features cutting-edge detection and curing technologies for neutralization of latest Internet threats and offers a wide range of subscription packages for home users and small and medium businesses that can choose a desired level of provided security according to their demands.
Dr.Web AV-Desk appeared on the Russian anti-virus market in 2007 and was deployed by many companies all over Russia and in other CIS countries. The number of service providers that now use the Internet-service has already exceeded 80 and is growing steadily (at least one new service provider deploys Dr.Web AV-Desk once a week).
Innovations implemented in the new version of Dr.Web AV-Desk make it even more attractive to customers and service providers.
Using the grouping option service providers can deliver the information security services to a larger number of small businesses that require reliable and user-friendly security software even during the economic recession. A company subscribing for the service gets anti-virus protection for all computers in its offices in the shortest possible time and at a lower cost compared to the cost of conventional anti-virus licenses.
The new features allow providers to offer the service as three basic subscription packages (Dr.Web Classic, Dr.Web Standard, and Dr.Web Premium) and develop an unlimited number of own promotional subscription packages. The Web Administration Interface allows a system administrator to monitor and administer an anti-virus network remotely. The notification system that enables sending messages to selected users or groups of users may help administrator and support engineers to alert users about virus outbreaks or other critical events.

The Internet-service software has become even easier to install. Now Dr.Web AV-Desk supports a wider range of databases, has improved load distribution system and a new list of supported server operating systems including FreeBSD 7.1, Fedora Core 10 and other Unix-family OS with Glibc 2.9
The Dr.Web anti-virus installed on computers of subscribers incorporates all advanced features of the fifth version of the Dr.Web software: the optimized anti-virus engine providing lower CPU usage, the improved non-signature technology Origins Tracing detecting malicious programs unknown to anti-virus, a huge number of supported archivers and packers and state of the art anti-rootkit technologies. Dr.Web software offered to subscribers also includes the HTTP monitor called SpIDer Gate and Parental control that ensure virus-free web-surfing and block access to specified network and local resources, removable data-storage and network devices, floppy drives. Dr.Web SelfPROtect protects files and directories of the anti-virus from unauthorized or occasional deletion or modification by a user or malicious program.
