New version of Dr.Web for Windows Mobile released

February 17, 2009

Doctor Web — the Russian anti-virus vendor — releases a new version of Dr.Web anti-virus for Windows Mobile. The anti-virus protects pocket PCs and communicators running Windows Mobile 2003/5.0/6.0/6.1.

Dr.Web 5.0 for Windows Mobile scans both memory of a device and installed memory cards. A user is offered to choose between full and custom scan modes. If a malicious object is detected, a user will be able to select a desired action (ignore/delete/quarantine).

The following new features have been implemented in the new version of Dr.Web for Windows Mobile:

  • updated anti-virus engine;
  • downloading of a demo or license key file from the registration server to a device running Windows Mobile;
  • improved user interface.

Besides, the license validation procedure based on the date when the license was registered has been removed. If date and time settings are reset to default or changed in some other way, the anti-virus will remain operational.

In order to obtain a 30 day demo key file fill in the form at download.drweb.com. Customers using Dr.Web Security Space, Dr.Web anti-virus 5.0 for Windows, Dr.Web anti-virus for Windows + Linux, and Dr.Web SOHO bundle can still get a license for Dr.Web anti-virus for Windows Mobile if they purchase a license for one of the products mentioned above. The price of a separate license for Dr.Web anti-virus for Windows Mobile is EURO 12.
