Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite updated

December 14, 2011

Doctor Web—a Russian developer of IT security software—has updated Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite to the version 6.0.3. The company's flagship corporate product received a number of improvements for server and client components.

The server components got a number of new features. In particular, the list of Linux-like systems supported by the server and proxy-server has been expanded.

Known errors have been fixed.. An issue resulting in an error upon transferring scanning schedule parameters to target machines has been resolved. In addition, an error that rendered scheduled scanning non-operational if scanning exceptions had been specified, has been fixed. The issue, related to emergency shut down of the server under Solaris when libxml2 is used, is no longer relevant; an error that triggered an untimely virus database outdated alert has been corrected.

The update also incorporates upgrades and error fixes for anti-virus components including the scanner, Dr.Web SpIDer Guard (G3 and NT) Dr.Web SpIDer Gate, the Scanning Engine service and Dr.Web SelfPROtect module.

Cutting-edge routines for neutralization of latest threats and the updated curing routines against active infections improve scanner efficiency. Errors that caused the scanner to crash when processing start-up objects have been fixed; the performance of the Dr.Web Shield anti-rootkit module (included in the scanner) has also been improved.

The upgrade for G3 and NT SpIDer Guard file monitors ensures their compatibility with new versions of other anti-virus components.

With the updated Dr.Web SpIDer Gate, web pages can be opened much faster.

Changes in the Scanning Engine service resolve the issue when Dr.Web agent was installed incorrectly under Windows 98.

Operation of the self-protection module while curing active infections has also been improved.

Dr.Web Enterprise Agent will update automatically, but will require two consecutive system reboots.

When update the server software 5.0 and 6.0 of the same architecture ,running the installation file will automatically initiate updating. In other cases you will need to remove the installed server software manually and install the updated version. It is recommended to read the latest manuals before you update the anti-virus suite.

A full list of additions, changes and corrections incorporated into Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite 6.0.3 can be found in the release notes.
