Doctor Web released an update for its free version of Dr.Web for Android— Dr.Web for Android Light. The update allows users to save their traffic—now virus database updates can be downloaded via a direct connection to a computer, if the mobile device supports this feature.

The "Wi-Fi only" option is replaced with "Do not use mobile network". Now to update the virus definitions you can use a computer connected to the Internet or an available WiMAX network along with Wi-Fi and 3G. Thus, you may avoid unnecessary traffic costs when updating over your carrier's network.

In addition, the update for Dr.Web for Android Light delivers fixes for a number of errors, and provides Korean language support.

Dr.Web for Android Light will be updated automatically. However, if automatic updating is disabled, go to the Android Market, select Dr.Web Anti-virus Light from the list of applications and click on the Update button.

In order to update via Doctor Web’s site you need to download a new distribution file.
