Scanner and traffic interceptor in Dr.Web 6.0 for Windows updated

May 11, 2011

Doctor Web announces the release of the updated scanner and traffic interceptor incorporated in several Dr.Web products for Windows.

The improved scanner is included into single-user Dr.Web products for Windows (Dr.Web Home Security Suite group), as well as into business solutions  Dr.Web Desktop Security Suite and Dr.Web Server Security Suite supporting centralized administration (Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite group). The list of registry branches to be scanned and cured if necessary has been extended. Scanner memory usage routines have been optimized so that it can free the memory it has utilized for scanning when the virus-check is over.

The update also provides fixes of errors that might result in malfunctioning of the scanner. The issue that might cause a crash while performing a full scan or collecting information about autorun objects under  64-bit versions of the OS, and issues causing a critical error under Windows 7 have been resolved.

The traffic interceptor for single-user Dr.Web products, comes with compatibility issues between the HTTP-monitor and some third party programs resolved. Detection of malicious email attachments under Windows 2000 was also improved. Aт error when the sites on the black list of the HTTP-monitor were still accessible to users has been fixed.

The update will be automatically downloaded by the anti-viruses but applying the update will require a system reboot.
