Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated Dr.Web Anti-virus 12.0 and 13.0 for PCs (Windows) and the subscription-based Dr.Web Anti-virus 13.0 for PCs (Windows). The update delivers upgrades for existing threat detection and neutralisation routines and introduces new ones. It also boosts the applications’ performance and reduces their memory footprint.

Adjustments have been made to the Preventive Protection module to ensure that few encryption ransomware threats remain undetected.

Malware inflicts enormous damage upon both organisations and individuals. And encryption ransomware is responsible for a major portion of it. Ransomware trojans usually infiltrate corporate infrastructures when employees carelessly (or for any other reason) open an infected file or website or access a compromised flash drive. Every month Doctor Web's technical support receives over 500 requests to recover ransomware-encrypted files. Reducing the number of encryption ransomware attacks on protected computers is one of Doctor Web’s main priorities.
