Increased malicious activity, new Android threats and other events of October 2022

Doctor Web presents its October virus activity review. According to the statistics we collected, the overall number of threats detected last month has increased, with adware remaining one of the most common among them. In email traffic, malicious scripts, phishing documents and software that exploit vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office documents prevailed again.
The number of user requests to decrypt files affected by encoders decreased by 28.06%. At the same time, malicious actors continued luring users to fraudulent websites. Also, during October, Doctor Web’s specialists discovered many new threats on Google Play, including malware, adware and unwanted programs.
