Threats on Google Play and other events in Doctor Web’s September 2022 mobile malware activity review

October 31,2022

Doctor Web is pleased to present its September 2022 mobile malware activity review. According to detection statistics collected by Dr.Web anti-virus products for Android, the activity of trojan applications designed to display ads decreased compared to August. At the same time, apps with built-in unwanted adware modules were detected more often.

The activity of Android.Spy.4498, a trojan that steals information from other apps’ notifications, continued declining. Currently, it accounts for just over a quarter of all malware detections.

During September, Doctor Web’s specialists discovered other threats on Google Play. Among them were new trojans that cybercriminals use to execute various fraudulent schemes, and also unwanted adware modules. Read more on these and other events in our review.
