Doctor Web presents its September virus activity review. According to the statistics we collected, the overall number of threats detected last month has decreased. With that, adware continued to be among the most widespread threats users came into contact with. In email traffic, malicious PDF files containing phishing forms for hijacking confidential user data were detected on a massive scale. In addition, malefactors continued spreading emails with malicious scripts and apps that exploit vulnerabilities in Microsoft office documents.

The number of user requests to decrypt files affected by encoders increased by 41.26% compared to August. At the same time, Internet scammers who lure users to fraudulent websites remained highly active. In addition, Doctor Web’s malware analysts uncovered new threats on Google Play.
