August 31, 2022
Doctor Web is pleased to present its July 2022 mobile malware activity review. According to detection statistics collected by Dr.Web for Android anti-virus products, the activity of Android.Spy.4498, a trojan designed to steal information from other apps’ notifications, continues to decrease. At the same time, we are observing an uptick in activity from one of its modifications. Adware trojans from the Android.HiddenAds family were also less active compared to the previous month. That said, they remain among the most widespread Android threats.
In July, our malware analysts discovered malicious programs that were infecting the firmware of counterfeit Android smartphones and targeting WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business messenger users. Read more on these and other events in our review.
