Components updated in Dr.Web 12.0 for Windows, Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite 12.0, and Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0

August 25, 2021

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web continues to improve its anti-virus products and is pleased to announce the update of certain modules incorporated into Dr.Web Security Space 12.0, Dr.Web Anti-virus 12.0, Dr.Web 12.0 for Windows Servers, Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite 12.0 and Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0. The applied changes have significantly increased the level of product security.

Important changes have been made to Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API (12.6.8.202108050): a new mechanism has been introduced that protects all Dr.Web products from being compromised and having vulnerabilities exploited. In addition, the update has enhanced the preventive protection against Internet threats and has improved the virus detection mechanism. At the same time, the optimisation of Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API has been improved.

Dr.Web Protection for Windows (12.06.03.08040) has also been improved—it now more effectively resists attempts to leverage the recently revealed critical Windows vulnerability PrintNightmare, about which we reported in our recent news post.

A number of changes have been made to Dr.Web Scanner SE (12.10.6.06290). The update has corrected an error that occurred if the MS Groove collaboration solution was installed in MS Office 2007 when the Scanner was launched. Also corrected was a UI-related issue that could cause a loss of scanner control with the help of a mouse. In general, the service’s level of security has been enhanced.

These changes affect all of the above-listed products.

In addition, several more fixes have been made. An error that occurred in Dr.Web device Guard for Windows (12.6.2.08120) when working with flash drives on Windows 7 computers. This module has been updated in Dr.Web Security Space 12.0, Dr.Web 12.0 for Windows Servers, Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite 12.0 and Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0. Lua-script for win-avd-agent-setup (12.10.0.08180) has been updated in Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0—this was done to correct an error that caused the Dr.Web Cloud service to turn off in its own.

The update will be performed automatically; however, a system reboot will be required.
