Components updated in Dr.Web 12.0 products for Windows and Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0

March 31, 2021

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated the Dr.Web Updater module (12.0.32.03050) and Lua-script for updater (12.10.2.03100) in Dr.Web Security Space 12.0, Dr.Web Anti-virus 12.0, Dr.Web Anti-virus 12.0 for Windows Servers and Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0. Furthermore, the module Dr.Web Agent for Windows setup AVD (13.0.2.01282) and the configuration script Lua-script for meta (12.5.0.12011) have been made current in Dr.Web AV-Desk 13.0. The update ensures that the Dr.Web software works properly on PCs running outdated Windows versions and also delivers tweaks and upgrades.

Changes made to Dr.Web Updater:

  • Module stability has been improved;
  • Outdated component versions can no longer be installed from the local product repository.

Changes made to Lua-script for updater:

  • A notification is now displayed if the Dr.Web modules cannot be updated because Windows updates providing SHA-256 support are not installed in the system;
  • Users are also notified that they need to install operating system updates introducing SHA-256 support.

Changes made to Dr.Web Agent for Windows setup AVD:

  • The application logs now provide more detailed information;
  • Application security has been improved.
  • Users are notified that they need to install operating system updates introducing SHA-256 support.
  • The installation wizard now checks whether SHA-256 is supported by the OS;
  • An issue preventing a system restart after the agent software was removed (if the corresponding option was enabled) has been resolved;
  • A delayed system restart is now rescheduled if a PC has switched to sleep mode;
  • A blurred UI issue affecting high DPI displays has been resolved;
  • More detailed information is now available for some installation errors.

Changes made to Lua-script for meta:

  • No Dr.Web component, except for the updating module and virus databases, can now be updated on a computer if SHA-256 is not supported in the system.

The documentation has been updated too.

The update will be downloaded and installed automatically.

Important: to ensure that the Dr.Web software operates correctly under Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft security updates providing SHA-256 support must be installed in these systems. For additional information, please refer to this guide.
