A decline in malware activity and other events of December 2020
December 31, 2020
Doctor Web presents its December 2020 overview of malware activity. The past month revealed a decrease in the total amount of threats by over 10% compared with November. According to statistics, adware, trojan installers, and malware browser extensions remained among the most common threats. Email traffic was dominated by a multi-module banker, an obfuscated version of a stealer with keylogging features, as well as by malware that exploits vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office programs. The number of user requests to decrypt files affected by encoders decreased by almost a third. Read more about these and other events in our December review.
