The Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web unveils the beta version of its Dr.Web for Android and welcomes users to take part in its beta-testing. Enhanced with the anti-spam Dr.Web for Android boasts even wider range of protective features.

Released in August 2010 Dr.Web for Android is still gaining popularity. Feedback about the anti-virus is provided on Android Market on a daily basis and most user comments are positive. Dr.Web for Android doesn't simply neutralize Trojans specifically targeting Android devices; it also blocks the wide channel for distributing malicious programs that exploit the autorun feature of Windows to start automatically from removable data-storage devices. The anti-virus will disarm a flash drive which was compromised in another system and then has been connected to the Dr.Web-protected Android device.

Doctor Web's developers are striving to improve anti-virus security software for Android. The beta in testing enjoys all the features already available with Dr.Web for Android but also enables users to filter out unwanted short messages according to black and white lists. The anti-virus also supports user settings profiles. Different profiles can be activated depending on the current situation: do not receive unrelated calls and messages while attending a business meeting or enable the Home profile to put aside your work communication. How to install Dr.Web for Android:

1. Connect the mobile device to the computer using a USB data-cable.
2. Set the device to work as a storage device.
3. Copy the drweb-600-android-beta.apk on an SD card.
4. Disconnect the mobile device from the computer.
5. Launch any file manager on the device (e.g. you can use ASTRO from the Android Market).
6. Navigate to the /sdcard directory and find the drweb-600-android-beta.apk file.
7. Use the application manager to start installation.

Download Dr.Web for Android from the Android Market:

1. Use your mobile device to go to the Android Market page.
2. Find and select Dr.Web for Android.
3. Press Install.

Doctor Web welcomes all users willing to participate in the beta-testing of Dr.Web for Android. If you already have Dr.Web for Android installed, you will need to remove it from the device onto which you want to install the pro version of the anti-virus.

Upon completion of the testing users will be able to choose between the Anti-virus and Anti-virus&Anti-spam licenses for Dr.Web for Android. All customers purchasing Dr.Web for personal computers will receive the Anti-virus&Anti-spam license for Dr.Web for Android free of charge.

The title of the anti-virus for Android currently available on the Android Market and in other online software stores has been changed for Dr.Web for Android Light.
