Two-fold growth in the number of malicious websites and other events of March 2020

Doctor Web presents its March 2020 overview of malware activity. In March, the number of detected threats increased by more than 10% compared to February. According to statistics, users were mostly threatened by adware, unwanted programs and malicious browser extensions. A multi-module banking trojan and malware that exploits vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office programs showed the highest distribution rate in email traffic. The number of user requests to decrypt files affected by encoders continued to grow. Finally, the number of URLs added to Dr. Web’s database of dangerous and non-recommended websites showed a two-fold increase compared to February.
