A growth in ransomware activity and other events of February 2020

Doctor Web presents its February 2020 overview of malware activity. In February, the number of detected threats remained steady at January levels. Users continued to face adware and unwanted programs primarily. E-mail traffic was dominated by malware with a multi-module banking trojan showing the highest distribution rate. Encoder activity increased by 12%, demonstrating an upward trend for the first time since October 2019. Finally, the number of URLs added to Dr. Web’s database of dangerous and non-recommended websites dropped by almost 7% compared with January.
