The rise of malware detections in e-mail traffic and other events of January 2020

Doctor Web presents its January 2020 overview of malware activity. In January, the number of detected threats remained steady at December levels. Users were still threatened primarily by adware, including malicious browser extensions and unwanted programs. Malware in the e-mail traffic showed the highest distribution dynamics. January continued its trend in reducing encoder activity, which began in November 2019. Finally, the number of URLs added to dangerous and non-recommended websites database dropped by 40%, as compared to December. Read more about these and other events in our December review.
