Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has released Dr.Web Security Space 12.4.0 for Android and Dr.Web Anti-virus Light 11.3.0 for Android. The products incorporate new features and UI adjustments and fixes for known issues.

Changes relevant for both products:

• The addition of Android 9.0 support;
• Notification categories for devices running Android 8.0 and later;
• Improved usability for the scanning results window. Now users can access information about discovered threats by tapping on the corresponding link in the results window.
• Users are now warned that if the anti-virus fails to remove a malicious application that uses a special accessibility service, they need to boot their device in safe mode and delete the app manually.
• An issue involving scanning notifications being displayed while the notification bar is disabled has been resolved.
• The Dr.Web notification bar can now be removed by disabling notifications in the device settings. On devices running Android 7.0 and later, all Dr.Web notifications now appear as a single expandable notification. You can also disable Dr.Web notifications belonging to specific categories;
• New technologies are now present to detect threats in the system memory. The SpIDer Guard option to track changes in the system memory is disabled by default;
• Minor tweaks have been made to improve the stability of the anti-virus services on devices running Android 8.0 and later.

Changes affecting Dr.Web Security Space for Android:

• A license loading issue, occurring in licenses with Arabic localization that were purchased on Google Play, has been resolved;
• An application whose operation was blocked by the Parental Control can now be unblocked by entering a password on the lock screen;
• Users can now choose a SIM card when sending an anti-theft command with SMS;
• In centralised protection mode, the Anti-theft is toggled off on the server if the user disabled it locally;
• The new category “Cryptocurrency mining pools” is now available for the URL filter;
• The URL filter now supports the Meizu browser;
• An issue causing the application to terminate abnormally if a call from a hidden number was being blocked has been eliminated.
• Minor UI tweaks have been introduced.

If you downloaded your Dr.Web application from Google Play, the update will be downloaded and installed automatically. If you’ve disabled automatic updating on your device, go to Google Play, select Dr.Web Security Space, Dr.Web Security Space Life or Dr.Web Anti-virus Light on the application list, and click "Update”.

To update via the Doctor Web site, you need to download a new distribution file. If you’ve enabled the “New app version” option in the settings, a notification will be displayed whenever the virus databases are updated. You can start the download directly from this dialogue box.
