The Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web announced the release of the sixth version of its flagship corporate product Dr.Web Enterprise Suite. Innovations and modifications have been added to the large number of solution’s components. Dr.Web Enterprise Suite 6.0 offers a wide range of features for protection of corporate networks: now it incorporates the firewall and centralized quarantine and anti-virus agents support 64-bit systems.

The built-in firewall has become an integral part of single user Dr.Web products and is now available to users of Dr.Web Enterprise Suite providing protection from unauthorized access from a network, data leak prevention, blocking of suspicious connections on package and application layers.

The agent also incorporates tools for enhanced protection of the hosts file and registry branches to exclude a possibility of changing system parameters by an intruder.

Support of 64-bit systems allows using Dr.Web Enterprise Suite with latest versions of Windows. If the target system runs Windows 2000 or later, the agent will include the SpIDer Guard file monitor available in other Dr.Web products of the series 6.0.

Dr.Web Enterprise Suite 6.0 also features a centrally-managed quarantine allowing a network administrator to view and perform actions to objects quarantined on all machines in the network from his workplace.

Improvements have also been done to the administrator web-interface. Now it allows arranging protected objects into groups and subgroups as the administrator sees fit. Several administrators can manage different groups separately making Dr.Web Enterprise Suite a good choice for companies with high security requirements as well as for multi-branch organization; The Java-console is no longer included into the suite. It has been superseded by the web-interface. In general, administering an anti-virus network has become even easier.

In order to upgrade to Dr.Web Enterprise Suite 6/0 an administrator will have to download the distribution file and install the new version over the existing installation. The installation process will require several system restarts.

Caution! In order to use the firewall you’ll need to purchase a Dr.Web Enterprise Suite renewal license, otherwise the firewall won’t be operational. Please, note that the 2193 port must be open to allow agent connecting with the server.
