Sibirtelecom provides Dr.Web anti-virus service

September 3, 2010

Doctor Web announced the deployment of its Internet-service Dr.Web AV-Desk by Sibirtelecom, the largest telecom operator in Siberia. The Dr.Web anti-virus service is available in all eleven branch offices of the company to 700 000 customers.

A number of large telecom providers has already made their choice in favour of Dr.Web AV-Desk and enjoy all benefits of the innovative service. Now Sibirtelecom joins the ranks with its 58% share of ISP market in Siberia to offer its customers additional services of high quality and demand.

Subscribers to the Dr.Web anti-virus can choose a desired level of security which largely depends on how widely they use the Internet. The Dr.Web Classic package provides basic anti-virus security, Dr.Web Standard enhances it with the anti-spam and the comprehensive package Dr.Web Premium also incorporates the HTTP monitor and parental control. Customers won’t need to pay a separate service bill; instead, the fee will be debited along with the Internet service fee every month.

«Today more than 250 companies have already deployed Dr.Web AV-Desk and offer the Dr.Web anti-virus service to their customers. Some of them are large telecom providers which benefit from the service even more because of the large scale of their activity. We are glad that Sibirtelecom is among such big customers and we are confident that it will increase the number of users of Dr.Web in Siberia substantially», Valentine Fedotov, the business development manager of Doctor Web said.

«JSC “Sibirtelecom” is an innovative operator. In April 2010 Sibirtelecom became the first operator in Siberia to introduce the GPON technology in its network. We understand that apart from stable broadband connection users also need highly-demanded online services. This is what we receive from Doctor Web that has become the first company with whom we start cooperating in the field of online services. We are content with our joint efforts and appreciate Doctor Web’s flexibility and readiness for open dialogue in solving technical and management problems Testing of the service software showed that it was reliable and easy to use. Now we can only hope that our customers will make the most of the new service as Doctor Web and Sibirtelecom do their best to deliver reliable and secure access to the Internet to all the subscribers», Valery Belenky, the commercial director of Sibirtelecom said.

About Dr.Web AV-Desk

Doctor Web was the first anti-virus vendor that offered an anti-virus as a service on the Russian market.

Deployment of Dr.Web AV-Desk allows subscribers of a service provider to use Dr.Web anti-virus as a service: choose a desired subscription period, renew their subscriptions automatically and therefore plan how much they are going to spend on anti-virus security. Providing an anti-virus as a service ensures its instant delivery and easy management of a subscription for home users and business customers. Dr.Web AV-Desk was created in 2007. The number of service providers that deliver the Dr.Web anti-virus service in different regions of Russia and also in the Ukraine, France, Spain, Netherlands, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria and Estonia exceeds 250. Following results shown by the service in 2007 it was named the best product-service by PC Magazine Russia. In September 2008 Dr.Web AV-Desk was awarded the large golden medal of the Siberian Fair as an original technical and telecom solution.
