During the past year, Android users encountered a large number of cases involving banking Trojans, ransomware Trojans, and other malicious and unwanted applications displaying advertisements. Trojans that installed unwanted applications were especially wide spread. In addition, malicious programs were discovered in Google Play and in the firmware of dozens of mobile device models.
