Dr.Web ScanEngine and Dr.Web SelfPROtect driver updated

September 29, 2009

Doctor Web released updated Dr.Web ScanEngine – the service used by scanning modules to access the anti-virus engine – and the SelfPROtect driver.

The update fixes a ScanEngine issue that caused a Windows Event Log write error.

The update also closes a vulnerability of the self-protection module that might allow malicious objects to by-pass the self-defence of Dr.Web anti-viruses.

The update will be downloaded and installed by the Dr.Web anti-viruses automatically . In order to use the updated self-protection driver a system reboot is required after updating.
