Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated its Dr.Web anti-virus for Android to version 9.01.3. The update delivers new features and resolves known issues.

Some adjustments were applied only to the anti-virus build that is available for download via the Doctor Web site. Operational errors that occurred when connecting to the Dr.Web AV-Desk Server have been resolved. This includes a problem concerning licenses being blocked once user subscriptions to the Dr.Web Anti-virus service had expired. Other known defects have also been rectified.

The below changes have affected all Dr.Web for Android anti-viruses (the build available via the website had most of them implemented earlier).

An upgraded mechanism for blocking unwanted SMS messages. The addition of native x86 support. Expanded threat detection capabilities.

Support for Android 4.4, Google Chrome Beta, and Yandex Browser.

Enhancements for more efficient neutralisation of threats capable of self-protection. Optimised virus database updating processes.

Dr.Web 9.01.3 for Android can detect the Heartbleed vulnerability.

The Help menu item provides easy access to product information.

Now Dr.Web notifies the user whenever the firewall is turned off.

Support for the Azerbaijani and Thai languages.

Known defects, including those that could cause the anti-virus to terminate abnormally, have been corrected.

Dr.Web 9.01.3 for Android is available on Google Play (Dr.Web for Android. Comprehensive protection, Dr.Web for Android. Life License) and on Doctor Web's site.

Dr.Web for Android will be updated automatically. If automatic updates are disabled on the device, go to Google Play, choose Dr.Web Anti-virus or Dr.Web Anti-Virus Life license from the application list, and click "Update”.

To perform an update via Doctor Web's site, download the updated distribution. If the option “New application version” is enabled, a new version notification will be displayed when the virus databases are being updated. You can start the download directly from this dialogue box.
