Doctor Web — the Russian developer of IT security solutions — announces a successful deployment of Dr.Web AV-Desk by the Plt Electro-Com, Ltd company that became one of the first Internet service providers in Russia that adopted the PLC technology that allows providing Internet access over ordinary power lines. Subscribers of Plt Electro-Com, Ltd signing up for the Dr.Web anti-virus service receive anti-virus protection along with the Internet via the power-line.
Since January 2009 all customers of Plt Electro-Com, Ltd can subscribe to the Dr.Web anti-virus service and shield their systems from numerous Internet threats. Dr.Web AV-Desk hit the market more than a year ago but its popularity is still growing. Access providers from more than 30 regions of Russia have already deployed the service and protected computers of their subscribers. A user obtaining an anti-virus as a service can choose a desired subscription period (1-36 months), update anti-virus software free of charge and consult the technical support staff of Doctor Web on virus attacks if any.
When a subscription is activated, the customer of Plt Electro-Com, Ltd will get a download link. The launched executable will automatically install Dr.Web for Windows and establish connection to an anti-virus server. The anti-virus client will monitor all file operations, scan RAM and boot sectors, filter out viruses and spam from e-mail.
“Unlike other provider companies that have adopted Dr.Web AV-Desk Plt Electro-Com, Ltd uses PLC instead of Ethernet or Wi-Fi to provide Internet access to its customers. The company operates in many Russian cities and towns and we have more than sixty-five thousand subscribers”, Tatyana Dolinskaya, the sales manager of Plt Electro-Com, Ltd said.
